Aggregates prices in Shanghai fell slightly. Since Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival fell on January in 2023, market transactions tend to be weak during this period, coupled with the increase in the number of people returning home for Chinese New Year after the relaxation of epidemic prevention and control policies, the progress of various projects is also close to the end, and the demand side is weak. From the perspective of transportation, since July 2022, the Yangtze River basin has been suffering from continuous drought in summer, autumn and winter, which is rare in history. Water transportation in Poyang Lake and Dongting Lake is limited. Jiangxi and Hunan were particularly affected by drought, and many rivers and lakes in the whole region were at low dry water level or even cut off. Recently, the drought in Poyang Lake continues.
During the Chinese New Year, Dongting Lake has also been at a low dry water level, and the water level at Chenglingji Station has been maintained at about 19.2 meters, which has lasted for more than two months. From the perspective of supply side, in January, enterprises mainly paid back funds, and the overall supply and shipment were stable and weak.
In February, many provinces across the country have resumed work and production, and major projects in various provinces have started, which will benefit the demand for the aggregates industry.
